AUSDANCE IN CONVERSATION
‘Ausdance In Conversation With’ is a podcast created by Ausdance NSW that addresses the hard-hitting issues that affect the dance sector and wider arts community. We partner with Radio Blue Mountains and guest host Annalouise Paul and broadcast the podcasts during a segment called ‘Dancing On Air’. If you have any topic or guest suggestions please get in contact with us admin@dance.net.au
The podcast series is now available to download on iTunes and Spotify podcast.

In the final podcast for 2020, hosted by Annalouise Paul, Ausdance In Conversation with the Ausdance NSW Team; General Manager Susan Doel; Projects and Programs Manager, Kate Maguire-Rosier; Marketing Manager, Lauren Vassallo; and Arts Administration Officer, Remi Harvey.
The team reflect on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the dance sector and their hopes for 2021.
Recorded during the COVID-19 Pandemic lockdown, this conversation is between Alice Weber and Monica Blaszczak as part of her DAIR residency that was held online due to COVID 19 restrictions. Ausdance NSW’s Dance Artist in Residence Program (DAIR) offers space residencies at various host venues for members of Ausdance NSW who are independent dance artists, collectives, or companies. DAIR is a direct response to the ongoing challenges of access to affordable and appropriate spaces to dance artists for the development of dance making and practice. DAIR recipients in 2020 received a stipend for the duration of their residency which was supported by the Australia Council. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions and the closure of our venue partners, each artist had to adapt their residency as they worked from home.
(DAIR 2020) This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body.

MENTAL HEALTH – THE EDUCATORS
Guest Host Annalouise Paul speaks to Gwen Korebrits (CEO of Dance Health Alliance) and Linda Gamblin (Head of Training and Sydney Dance Company) about mental health in the dance industry. The societal rise in awareness of mental health and surrounding issues is currently more evident than ever. How is the dance sector responding to this in 2019? How is the dance sector responding to trends in thinking and being proactive about mental health? What are your approaches to self-care so we can learn from and share with each other?

Biodiversity in all living systems is crucial for survival, so what of our dance ecosystem? There is much talk about euro-centricity in dance culture but what does it all mean? Sharing cultural knowledge respectfully in the studio, classroom or workplace is essential for creativity, growth, and longevity of our Australian dance landscape. How do we sensitively share cultural and folk dance forms while not misappropriating them?

PARENTING AND FAMILY LIFE
Guest Host Annalouise Paul speaks to independent artists’ Lisa Maris McDonell and Adelina Larsson about parenting and family life in relation to dance.
Working in the arts can be demanding on many levels, commonly with our time and often for a lower income than in other industries. How do we manage our responsibilities to families, such as parenting or caring for elders or siblings? What are expectations and associated myths inside our industry when it comes to work and family balance? Does this come with an inherent clash?
